Since being back at Whitman...
1. Used my real snow shoes for the first time to walk from Prentiss to the Prentiss dining hall for a whole 100 ft or so. I bought them at a garage sale 2 years ago thinking that I would need/use them often.. it appears not, but amazingly they came in handy today.
2. A flight of stairs is between me and the bathroom, making a trek to the bathroom a feat. I now go to the bathroom less because to my mind it is apparently "inconvenient". Wow I am spoiled. I need to get over it. But I've learned the important value of having one in close proximity, or at least on the same floor.
3. Learned that going outside in the freezing cold after working out is one of the best feelings ever.
4. Learned that there is such a thing called freezing rain mist.
5. I have gone to the gym two whole days in a row! I don't think I've done that in a looong time. Let's hope that I can do this for the next 21 days to make it a habit.
6. I learned that I love living in a single.
7. I learned that I miss the "presence" of someone else being in the room when I go to sleep.
8. I learned that the amount of work that can get down in a single is a lot.
9. I learned that running errands takes more time than you think, especially when you are walking very slowly in the snow all around campus.
10. I am reaaaally enjoying my time not working and assembling notebooks several hours a week.
11. I LOVE MY CLASSES! Finally got over the hump of calculus and chemistry to get to the classes I enjoy.
12. I am trying to adjust myself back to "UNI" time where I go to sleep early and wake up really early for class. Its going to be difficult, but its the only way I'll survive this semester with my early classes.
13. Being back in the dining hall is one of the most stressful times of the day. The mad rush of people and the amount of stimulation is almost too much for me to handle.
The world is a place of unexplored lands, dreams, adventures, travels, thoughts, and ideas. This blog is a place of the explored not quite understood.

my life on a corkboard.
I can already tell that this is going to be a GRAND year. I am so excited for 2012. I know it has a lot in store for me, as well as my friends and family. I know that I am going to grow and learn more than I could ever imagine.
I am back in good ol' Walla Walla. I got in yesterday morning, and today I moved into my new room! I've just finished unpacking most of my things from boxes and started decorating and rearranging my room(s). I would like to say that I could fit my life into suitcase and I could pack up and go at any instant, but sadly that is not the case. I am a pack rat, what can I say. I save movie ticket stubs. I save posters to things I have gone to. I save anything and everything anybody has given me. So, it takes me a bit longer and I require more boxes to store these things.
It is strange not having a roommate, and having two rooms to myself. There's so much... SPACE. I have not one, but two closets. Two beds. Two desks. Two chairs. This is definitely something I am not used to. I love it though, and I think I am going to like it a lot. I can use the second room for hanging out and all things good! I imagine that it will be a lot easier to concentrate and focus while in this room, which is fantastic. AND it is so quiet, something I have not had for a while. Well, maybe it is because no one is here, but still, the rooms seem to be pretty soundproof.
And here is what I've been working on! This is one of my corkboards in the outer room. I didn't realize this until after I finished, but this basically sums up my life right now.
I'm still in the process of decorating my room with posters and more pictures, but I won't have access to them until tomorrow, so that is when I'll work on that.
Also, there will be more to come on the crafts that I have been working on over the past month!

the love for my home
I went on a wonderful walk down in Crystal Cove with my papa today. It was wonderful to get out and go walking along the beach under the basking sun in the middle of winter. Walking along the shore, barefoot, with the sand beneath my feet and keeping me cool under the warm sun reminded me how peaceful it is out there.
Yet, when I was driving home this is what I see.

cheers to a new year
Happy New Year!
I'm sitting on my bed, trying to think of something to write about the new coming year and about the past. My fingers are typing.. slowly. Mostly they are just resting on the keys, waiting for my brain to think of something to write. Mainly, I am speechless. I'm not sure what to say, as this year has gone by so quickly. I cannot believe that is is 2012. The past year felt so short, but it also felt so long. I cannot make up my mind which one it is, but time is time and it is just what it is. Now its 2012. Wow.
Every year, I generally like to make New Years resolution that I usually can never fulfill or are so vague that they are made every year. I looked at a blog post from last year around this time of year, and my new years resolution was to "really try to take advantage of every opportunity I am given and take it with a positive attitude, all the while trying to keep the Lord as my center of being. It's a very vague resolution, but it means a lot to me. It doesn't only mean taking advantage of the big opportunities, but to take time to recognize small ways in which I can enjoy life. And these small things means taking time to build the relationships around me, to go out of my way and get to know or help out a friend or peer". Thinking about this, I did take advantage of opportunities that I was given and it was resulted in amazing things that moved and changed me, but it did not so much keep the Lord as the center of my being, nor did I recognize small ways in which I can enjoy life in every aspect. I fail in those categories, but I must always strive for it. My 2011 resolution pretty much holds true for 2012 as well, however I'd like to add some new ones.
1. I'd like to find a balance, especially for this new year, between my schoolwork, my friendships, my family, my work, and my other time commitments.
2. However, I'd like to strive to work on my relationships with friends and family. I often find myself "too busy" to focus on my relationships, so this is something I want to make a goal.
3. Have patience.
4. Live in the present, but not to forget what is important.
5. Discover what is important to me and focus on that, rather than spread myself thin.
6. Remember that I need to keep myself healthy and do what I need to do to do so.
7. I want to challenge myself by living out of my comfort zone, daily.
8. I want to learn to deal with criticism and not take things personally.
9. I want to learn how to be a good leader.
10. I want to learn to not be nervous talking to people, whether I am having a one on one conversation or speaking to a large group.
11. Do everything with confidence.
Of all my goals, I think number 2 and 11 are most important for the coming year. If there is something I have learned this year and would like to focus on next year is to do everything with CONFIDENCE and to focus on my relationships with friends, family, and peers.
I case you haven't already noticed, I like reflecting on the past and looking toward the future.
I have an idea for this post. Below I will post memorable pictures from 2011. Enjoy!

If this is the last year that I am going to live before the world ends, according to the Mayan calendar, I want to see peace, light, no more hungry bellies, and no more frightened girls and women. I want to travel to Samoa and visit the places I used to live. This might be embarrassing, especially because my family is reading this, but I want to have my first kiss before the world ends.

January
Me and my best friend at Crystal Cove over winter break. This is a failed attempt to capture us in a cliche jumping picture, yet I love it. I miss you, girl and can't wait to see you soon!
February
In Anderson. Shorts, shades, and zip-ups. We're from California, get it?
March
Disney's California Adventure. I absolutely love Disneyland and will never get tired of it.Truly a place where dreams come true. I went here with one of my best friends from school and had a magically fun, yet tiring day!
April
The Tallest Man on Earth. Best. Concert. Ever.
May
In Pioneer Park!
June
I went to the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland for my birthday. Simple amazing. I'm in love with the land there.
July
One of the many, many sunsets in Sweden. I could never get used to the gorgeous view.
August
Festival in J-town of LA. People put their wishes on pieces of paper and hang them on trees. They are then "burned" to come true.
September
I was welcomed back to school with sunflowers growing in the front of Coho. It made me smile every time I would come home.
October
The weather is changing.
November
My two beautiful dots.
December
My beautiful family at Christmas Eve. We are finally together again!
Happy new years! I am looking forward to an amazing year. It is going to be phenomenal; I know it!
