life back in the 949

It is interesting that in my last post, I wrote about my home in Southern California and how I have come to appreciate it over the past couple of years. After the events over the past couple of weeks, I am now back home. It's a long story.

I have had a really strange, yet interesting past couple of weeks and even months since I left home for school in August.

Here's the story. I went back to Whitman and began the first semester of my junior year assuming without knowing my financial aid package and assuming that it would be the same that it has been for the past two years I have attended this college. For the first month and a half (and some because of RA training), I took classes and partook in a variety of activities like a regular student. A little over two weeks ago, I finally received my financial aid package. I was sitting in my Executive meeting, and an e-mail popped up saying that it was ready to be viewed on CLeo. Naturally, I checked it and thought.. naww this couldn't be right, and then I started freaking out. The reason that I got my aid package so late was that my parent's taxes were filed late, due to circumstances they could not control. Anyhow, after about a week of talking to everyone I could, I finally had to make the decision a week later to take a leave of absence for the entire year. I never though that this would happen...

This was honestly one of the hardest decisions I have had to make, or well, forced to make. I have made my best friends at Whitman, and it is the hardest thing knowing that I cannot just show up at their door for a little chat or hug. I was also SO invested in other activities in the school in Theta as well as being an RA that I thought this was impossible for me to do. I cried literally every night since I found out. I'm all teared out now, though, and I am only looking forward. Life is just one big adventure, and I now have the chance to start fresh and new.

And well, currently, I am back at home! Actually, I am sitting in Starbucks right now waiting for my shift to start at my new job in the cutest little bakery on Balboa Island in Newport Beach called Cinnamon Roll Fair. Like their name says, they are known for the BEST cinnamon rolls in town. I was extremely fortunate to find a job so quickly! I got back home on Saturday night (13th of October), and I  had an interview the following Monday (15th) and I started that same day, only about an hour after my interview. I am currently working every day, but eventually I will start working 5 days a week at this place. The job is busy, busy, busy. I clean everrryything. The floors, counters, dishes, containers, etc. On top of that, I serve customers pastries, make drinks (coffee, espresso :) ), and close the shop. There is almost no down town, but I love it. It keeps me busy, so it's never boring.

The espresso machine and the cash register are a little intimidating, not going to lie, but I am getting the hang of it. I made my first latte the other day and my first iced latte yesterday! It's actually quite a lot of fun! I have not actually tried the cinnamon rolls yet, but I probably should. Hah.

Other things I am working on is my crafting for my "bizness" Meadow On the Ledge, working out (got a gym pass, and I need to go everyday!! It's a dollar a day, so gotta make the most of it) applying to other schools, looking for another job, and saving up for a car.

I have another job interview tomorrow at at a Chiropractor's office, and if I do get that job, then I will only work at the Cinnamon Roll Fair on the weekends.

The thing I am most unsure about for my future is where oh where am I going to go to school? It's complicated because requirements to transfer to a UC are different than Cal States, and all those are things not required by privates.

For now, I will take day by day and see where that leads me!
